ABILENE, Tex. - Seattle U volleyball finishes its four match road trip this weekend, traveling to Texas for Western Athletic Conference (WAC) matches against Abilene Christian and Tarleton. The Redhawks will face off with Abilene Christian first, starting at 4 p.m. pacific time on Thursday in Abilene. Saturday's match will send them on a short drive east for a matchup with the Texans at 11 a.m. Both matches will feature live streaming on ESPN+ and live stats. This will be the first meeting between Seattle U and Abilene Christian and the third ever match between SU and Tarleton.
FOLLOW THE REDHAWKS
With her 20th assist against Utah Tech, Ezgi Ozkan became just the fourth Redhawk since their return to DI to reach 2,000 carer assists. The senior from Istanbul, Turkey, has been a focal point of the Seattle U attack, playing in every set this season and ranking third in the conference with 8.79 assists per set.
SEVENTH ALL-TIME PERFORMANCE
Libero Erin Goya had a career-best performance against Utah Tech, tying Seattle U's seventh all-time digs record with 30 against the Trailblazers. Goya becomes the first Redhawk to record 30 digs in a match since Tijana Milojevic had 31 against Chicago State in 2017. The sophomore from Honolulu, Hawaii, has slotted into the libero role nicely, recording double-digit digs in four out of five matches with seventh overall this season. Goya has logged 160 digs already this season, a new career-high.
FRESHMAN DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Freshman Merima Smajlovic posted her first career double-double against Utah Tech on Saturday, logging new career-highs in digs (16) and kills (12). Ezgi Ozkan was the last SU freshman to record a double-double, registering five in her first season in 2019. The native of Istanbul, Turkey, has been a key member of the Redhawks lineup, ranking third on the team in service aces (11), fourth in kills (72) and total blocks (22) and fifth in digs (121).

The Redhawks had three athletes record double-digit kills against the Trailblazers, marking the first time that has happened this season. Sophomore Arianna Bilby had 13 for her team leading 10th double-digit match of the year, while Shanice Horn logged her sixth with 11 on the afternoon and Smajlovic had 12 in her first career double-double. As a team, Seattle U has registered 18 double-digit kill matches this season.
MILESTONES TO WATCH
Seniors Lauren McCabe and Ezgi Ozkan will look to climb up the all-time leaderboards this season. McCabe currently ranks second in solo blocks (39) and just entered the top-10 list in total blocks. Ozkan ranks fourth all-time in assists (2,016), becoming just the fourth Redhawk to record 2k assists since their return to DI.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Abilene Christian currently holds the 10th spot in the WAC at 6-15 overall with a 3-6 record in the WAC. The Wildcats rank fourth in the conference in digs per set (15.16) and last in blocks (1.53). Bryley Steinhilber leads the team in kills (212), while Madeline Guffy has 410 assists and Ashli Edmiston has 213 digs on the year.
Tarleton ranks right behind the Wildcats at 11-13 overall with a 3-6 record in the WAC. Allie Hair leads the conference in hitting percentage (3.72), while Ana Costas ranks sixth in digs per set (3.99) and Grayson Schripik holds the 10th spot in kills in per set a 2.97.
