Seattle U Ties For Second at Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate

LAS CRUCES, N. Mex. - Seattle U men's golf wrapped up the 2022 fall slate on Tuesday, tying for second place out of nine teams at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate. Graduate student Jack Rahon posted his best overall finish this season, tying for sixth with a three-round total of two-under 211 (72-68-71). The two-day, 54 hole event took place at New Mexico State University Golf Course on the 7,242 yards course with a par of 71.

LAS CRUCES, N. Mex. - Seattle U men's golf wrapped up the 2022 fall slate on Tuesday, tying for second place out of nine teams at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate. Graduate student Jack Rahon posted his best overall finish this season, tying for sixth with a three-round total of two-under 211 (72-68-71). The two-day, 54 hole event took place at New Mexico State University Golf Course on the 7,242 yards course with a par of 71. 

The Redhawks posted a team score of even 852, finishing second in par three average (3.12) and scoring (seven-over) as well as birdies converted (49). The second overall finishes is the highest team finish of the season and best overall finish since they took third twice in the spring of 2020.

Rahon played some of his best golf on the par fives, ranking tied for second in average (4.33) and scoring (six-under) as well as birdies made (13). After a slow start to the season, Rahon has placed in the top-15 at the last three tournaments. In this span, the native of Orange, Calif., has posted six rounds of even or under and recorded his career-low round of five-under 66.

Fellow graduate student Nathan Cogswell (70-74-69) recorded four birdies on the back nine in the final round to also finish in the top-15. Sophomore Liam Gill (73-69-72) and freshman Ben Ragland (71-74-70) finished one and two strokes behind Cogswell, respectively, with the pair both collecting top-20 finishes. Junior Blake Kukula rounds out the team score with a three-round total of 222 (72-75-75). 

Seattle U will open the spring campaign in Tucson, Arizona, at the Arizona Intercollegiate.
