ST GEORGE - Seattle U men's soccer erased a halftime deficit as they come from behind to beat Utah Tech, 2-1, Friday night in Utah. Richard Bedats picked up the second half brace, as the Redhawks secured their first conference road win of the season.
"Two terrific goals from Richard," said head coach Pete Fewing. "It's great to come from behind and that's the first time we have done that this year."
Utah Tech scored the opener of the match at the 38' mark in the first half and were able to keep the Redhawks off the board as both sides headed into half. It wasn't until the 65th minute that Seattle U would finally break through. Bedats found the back of the net for the equalizer, before getting the game winner just over ten minutes later to pick up the brace and the victory for the Redhawks.
"We played better as the game went on," added Fewing. "This was a very important win for us at this stage of the season."
The win was the first on the road since taking down Notre Dame in North Bend to begin the 2022 campaign. SU now improves to 3-6-1 and to 2-1 in conference play, as they sit just one point out of second place in the WAC standings.
The Redhawks will continue their road trip with a matchup vs UNLV in Las Vegas on Sunday, Oct. 16. Kickoff from the Sin City is scheduled for 6 pm PT and will be broadcast live on WAC International.
