Redhawks Win Fourth Straight, Earn Three All-Tournament Honors

Louisville, Ky. - Seattle U Volleyball earned its fourth straight victory on Saturday, defeating Gardner Webb (25-23, 14-25, 25-21, 26-24). The Redhawks won all three of their matches in the Bellarmine Invitational, earning three All-Tournament awards. All three matches were played at Knights Hall in Louisville, Kentucky.

SU narrowly clinched set one, winning five of the last seven points, before dropping set two which ended their eight set win streak. An Arianna Bilby kill sealed set three and a four point run at the end of set four earned Seattle U its fourth straight win. 

The Redhawks registered double digit blocks for the second time this season, recording 11 overall blocks. Marley Hardgrave was the lead blocker with six total blocks, while Lauren McCabe added five and Ezgi Ozkan had three.

Shanice Horn posted double digit kills for the fifth straight match, logging 15 to go along with two total blocks and four digs. McCabe was the next best hitter, setting a career-high in kills with 11, while Ezgi Ozkan posted a double-double and had her fourth 30+ assist match of the season.

Three Redhawks had double digit digs with Katlyn Sipes leading the way with 15, while Bilby and Ozkan both recorded 10. 

After the match, Ozkan was named Tournament MVP, while McCabe and Horn joined her on the All-Tournament team. Ozkan was vital in all three wins, combining for 95 assists, 26 digs and five total blocks. McCabe was SU's lead blocker, registering eight total blocks over the three games and hit over .348 in each match. Horn recorded double digit kills in all three matches, tying her career high of 15 kills against Gardner Webb. 

Seattle U will head to the Portland Invitational next weekend to conclude non-conference play. The first matchup with Portland State will take place at noon, while the final match against Portland takes place at 4 p.m. with both games occuring on Saturday.
