CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Seattle U women's golf junior Azumi Arai and freshman Shayna Lu are among those named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars. The criteria for selection to the 2021-22 WGCA All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
Arai earns the honor in a third consecutive year, while Lu marks her first appearance after a stellar freshman season.
Since Head Coach Marc Chandonnet took over the program in 2012-13, Seattle U has earned 34 WGCA All-American Scholars. Seven Redhawks earned the distinction in both 2020 and 2021, tying for the most in one year, while six athletes were honored in 2019 and four in 2018.
Women's golf closed out the 2021-22 academic year by recording a team GPA of 3.790 in the spring quarter, marking the highest overall team GPA at Seattle U.
The WGCA All-American Scholars recognized a total of 1,485 women's collegiate golfers with this prestigious honor.
