PHOENIX - Seattle U baseball got off to a hot start in their series opener but eventually fell to Grand Canyon, 5-7, Thursday night in Phoenix.

The Redhawks were able to score two runs in the first inning courtesy of RBIs from Derek Gellos and Connor O'Brien. The Lopes would tie the game in the bottom half of the first and went on to score four more runs over the next three innings to take the 6-2 lead.

Trevor Antonson would try to bring the Redhawks back, hitting a 2-run homerun in the fifth and a RBI single in the bottom of the ninth. GCU would pickup an insurance run in the eighth however, as they were able to hold onto the series opening win.

Seattle U will look to even the series tomorrow, May 20 in game two of the three game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 pm PT with Riley Sinclair getting the start on the mound.
