INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Seattle U men's golf senior Nathan Cogswell has been selected to compete as one of five individuals at the Stockton Regional site, hosted by Pacific and Visit Stockton, at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, Calif., from May 16-18. Cogswell will be one of 45 total individuals vying for one of the six spots at the National Finals.
"Today was a fantastic day," said Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. "I truly appreciate all the support today to celebrate Nathan's amazing accomplishments. We both know the course pretty well and will put together a nice game plan."
Cogswell posted back to back season low rounds of five-under 67 to take medalist honors at the WAC Championships Sunday, finishing with a three-round total of nine-under 207 (73-67-67). The senior became the first Redhawk ever to claim the award and will mark Seattle U's second appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The native of Kent, Wash., was one of the best in the field from the par three and four, tying for first in par four scoring (two-under) and average (3.93) and tying for third in par three scoring (one-under) and average (2.92).
Cogswell earned First Team All-WAC honors Wednesday, marking the first time a Seattle U golfer has been named on consecutive All-WAC First Teams. He was named WAC Golfer of the Week three times throughout the season and finished in the top-five at three tournaments.
Thirty teams and six individuals not on those qualifying teams will advance to the 2022 NCAA Championships, taking place at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, from May 27 to June 1.
