BELLEVUE - Seattle U baseball made it three straight wins when they took down Portland, 9-3, Saturday afternoon at Bannerwood Park.

Nestor German made it back-to-back winning performances on the mound, this time as a starter, going seven innings while giving up just two earned runs. In his last two appearances, German has pitched a combined 13 innings and given up eight hits and just two earned runs.

Another player that kept their hot streak going in the win was Aidan Welch. Going 2-4 with a 2-run homerun on the day, Welch finished the series with four hits and six batted in.

The Redhawks never trailed in the game, scoring the first seven runs of the day. Portland finally broke through in the seventh on a 3-run homerun to cut the Redhawk lead to four, but that was followed by an insurance homerun by Gavin Rork in the bottom of the eighth to put the game out of reach.

Alex Jemal and Gabe Smith would pitch the final two innings, not allowing a single run to come across as the Redhawks secured their third straight win. The win also gave SU the 2-1 season series win over Portland after dropping the first matchup to the Pilots back in March. The Redhawks also pushed their home record back to .500 with the win, now 9-9 at Bannerwood.

Next up is a return to conference play with a 3-game series in St George, Utah vs Dixie State. The Redhawks currently sit just one game back of the Trailblazers in the WAC West standings. Game one will be Thursday, May 5 with a scheduled 5:00 pm first pitch.
