AZUSA, Calif. - Seattle U track and field concluded participation at both the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific, and the Mt. Sac Relays, hosted by Mt. San Antonio, on Friday. Leading the way on the track was sophomore Maya McCabe, posting three second overall all-time program marks in the 400m, 800m and a part of the 4x400m relay. Overall, the Redhawks set another 12 top-ten marks and 16 personal records (PR).
The 52nd Bryan Clay Invitational took place at the Cougar Stadium in Azusa, California, while the 62nd Mt. Sac Relays occurred at the newly renovated Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, California.
McCabe opened the event Thursday, finishing with a time of 2:08.88 in the 800m, posting the fourth best overall time in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and improving her second all-time mark. The Ben Lomond, California, native started Friday running a time of 57.00 in the 400m, improving from sixth to second all-time. McCabe finished the event leading off the 4x400m relay team that posted a time of 3:54.90, .19 off the school record time.
Redshirt junior Nicole Whittern was the highest placing Redhawk over both meets, finishing third in the javelin throw at the Bryan Clay Invitational with a mark of 41.79m (137' 1"). The Everson, Washington, native was about 4.15m off the leader in her third consecutive top-six finish.
Sophomore Gus Harquail and redshirt junior Rowan Cuadrado set the second and third all-time marks in the 3000m steeplechase at the Mt. Sac Relays, posting times of 9:20.57 and 10:56.37, respectively. Harquail also placed fifth overall in the 1500m open B at the Bryan Clay Invitational with a time of 3:54.49 which ranks sixth all-time. Also in the 1500m, redshirt sophmore Alex Franklin finished with a time of 3:53.30 to earn the fifth all-time mark.
Another Redhawk that posted two top-ten all-time marks, junior Ellie Postma set new PRs in the 800m and 1500m. The Camas, Washington, native improved her sixth all-time mark in the 800m, finishing with a time of 2:13.97 Thursday and concluded the event posting a time of 4:36.69 in the 1500m which was also good enough for sixth all-time.
