Redhawks Split Doubleheader

SACRAMENTO - After dropping game one of the series, Seattle U baseball bounced back in game two to split the Friday Doubleheader with Sacramento State.

SACRAMENTO - After dropping game one of the series, Seattle U baseball bounced back in game two to split the Friday Doubleheader with Sacramento State. 

GAME 1:

The Redhawks struck first in game one of the series when Julian Kodama drew a walk with the bases loaded to bring in Matt Boissoneault in the top of the second. After the Hornets took the lead in the bottom of the second, Seattle U quickly tied it with a Boissoneault RBI single.

Seattle U would have to play the rest of the game from behind after Sacramento State regained the lead in the third and never gave it up, eventually winning 15-5. The game was shortened to eight innings after the Hornets went up by 10 in the bottom of the eighth, forcing the run rule. 

Peter Chronowski started on the mound for the Redhawks and went four innings, giving up four hits and three earned runs. 

GAME 2:

Seattle U once again took the first lead of the game, scoring three runs in the top of the second inning. Back-to-back RBI from Jackson Lind and Aidan Welch gave SU the 2-0 lead, then a double by Julian Kodama brought home another as the Redhawks led by three. 

Sacramento State gained one back in the bottom of the the second, but the Redhawks built on their lead after adding another three to the board in the top of the third. Boissoneault, Gellos and Lind all picked up RBI in the inning as Seattle U established a 6-1 advantage. 

Brady Liddle would pick up his second win on the season after going 6 and 2/3 inning, while only giving up two earned runs. 

The Redhawks would eventually secure the victory when they scored two more runs in the seventh inning, going on to win with a final score of 8-2.

The victory snapped a 7-game road losing streak for the Redhawks and a 3-game streak overall. 

Game three of the series is scheduled for 1:30 PM in California, with Riley Sinclair set to make his first start of the season.
