SEATTLE – The Seattle U Redhawks dropped a pair of games to Grand Canyon Friday, falling 7-1 and 3-0 in the doubleheader. The two losses end Seattle U's program-record 16 consecutive WAC series wins. The Redhawks had not lost a series in conference play since 2018.
Seattle U remains in second place in the WAC West Division at 23-17 overall and 9-5 in WAC play.
Olivia Viggiano pushed her hit streak to ten games with two hits in game one, only for that hit streak to come to a close with a hitless game two. It was Viggiano's first double-digit hit streak of her career and Seattle U's eighth in the last decade.
GAME ONE
The Redhawks threatened late, putting five baserunners on in the fifth and sixth and getting one run, but Seattle U was unable to cut further into the deficit.
Viggiano had two hits on the day, leading off the fourth and sixth with singles. Carley Nance added to her WAC-leading RBI total with a single in the sixth. Kalyn Hill and Stefanie Madrigal also had singles for the Redhawks, both coming with one out in the fifth.

A pitcher's duel went to Grand Canyon in a game that saw just one earned run and three total. Nance was excellent in the circle for Seattle U, allowing just seven hits and walking none, but took the loss in the complete game.
Nance had one of Seattle U's two hits as well, a two-out single in the first. Taylor DeDen had a hard-hit single in the fifth. Viggiano and Madison Kahwaty drew walks, with Kahwaty's walk giving Seattle U two on and two out in the first.

- This is the first time Nance has gone multiple games in a row without homering since March 18 and 19.
