UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Seattle U women's golf concluded play Tuesday at the Chambers Bay Invitational, finishing 16th out of 18 teams. The co-hosted event between Seattle U and Washington took place at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Washington, on the 6,046 yards course with a par of 72.
UCLA went on to sweep the event, taking the team title with a score of 12-over 876, while Emma Spitz claimed the individual title at one-under 215.
Graduate Student Keisha Lugito (78-79-80) and freshman Rivekka Jumagulova (81-75-81) marked the highest members of the team score, finishing in a tie for 52nd place. Senior Samantha Bruce (81-75-83) and junior Azumi Arai (80-81-78) would finish two strokes behind them, while freshman Shayna Lu (82-81-89) rounds out the team score with a three-round total of 252.
Junior Megan Kelly (79-77-77) was the highest placing Redhawk, tying for 34th with a three-round total of 233 competing as an individual. Freshman Annika Cruz (84-75-79) tied her season best round in the second round, while fellow freshman Samantha Yates (74-80-88) posted her season best round of 74 in the first round and graduate student Vendela From (79-80-84) finished one stroke behind her. Freshman Maria Fedorowycz (79-88-92) and Konomi Matsubara (86-87-86) wrap up SU's participation with three-round totals of 259.
The Redhawks' next destination will be the Riverhill Country Club, in Kerville, Texas, for the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships from Apr. 18-20.
