UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Seattle U men's golf hosts the eighth annual Seattle U Redhawk Invitational, starting on Monday in University Place, Wash. The two-day, 54 hole event is scheduled to be played on Apr. 4-5 at Chambers Bay Golf Course on the 7,068 yards course with a par of 71. Both days will feature shotgun starts, teeing off at 8 a.m.
"We are excited to host an amazing array of teams from all over the U.S. and thankful that these coaches chose to attend our event," said Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. "I am hoping for at least a couple days of nice weather and for the team to play the level of golf I know they are capable of. This has a chance to be a special week for Redhawks golf."
The Redhawks will be competing against golfers from Abilene Christian, Boise State, Boston College, CSUN, Cal Baptist, Cleveland State, Delaware, George Washington, Idaho, LaSalle, Lamar, Loyola Chicago, Oregon State, Pacific, Sacramento State, Seton Hall, UC San Diego, UT Arlington, UTEP, UTRGV, Washington, Western Carolina and Wichita State.
Seattle U's lineup will consist of seniors Nathan Cogswell, Harrison Murphy and Jack Rahon, sophomore Blake Kukula and freshman Liam Gill, while junior Alex Fowke will compete as an individual.
The tournament has featured four different team champions in its history with San Francisco, UCLA and Washington each taking the title twice. San Francisco won the 2021 tournament with a 14-under par combined score.
The tournament's 54-hole all-time low score was set in 2019 when UCLA shot 37-under par, while Hidetoshi Yoshihara set the individual 54-hole all-time low that same year at 13-under par.
Seattle U seniors Nathan Cogswell (70-75-74) and Jack Rahon (74-72-73) were named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Co-Men's Golfers of the Week for their performances at the Orange County Classic for the week of February 2-8. Both tied for second with three-round totals of 219. Rahon led the field in par four scoring, shooting an average of 3.9 and being four strokes better than the next best golfer. Cogswell was consistent throughout the tournament, making 12 birdie puts over the two-day event.
