Redhawks Fall to Portland in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Seattle U women's tennis started off its two match road set in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Friday with a neutral site match against Portland at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Pilots came out strong in doubles play and continued that moment into singles play, winning 6-1.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Seattle U women's tennis started off its two match road set in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Friday with a neutral site match against Portland at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Pilots came out strong in doubles play and continued that moment into singles play, winning 6-1. 

Freshman Mireia Fehr and Jade Quintana did their best to earn the doubles point, defeating Neli Sunjic and Iva Zelic, 6-5 (7-4), for their second victory as a pairing. However, The Pilots would take the other two doubles matches and claim the doubles point. Seniors Hannah Grossman and Jillian Rasmussen (2-6) faced off against Rimona Rouf and Sally Pethybridge, while freshman Liliya Dimova and senior Aranza Alvarez Sanabria (1-6) paired up against Angela Schuster and Aleks Dimitrijevic.

In singles play, Quitana earned her third victory of the season, defeating Sunjic, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, on court three for the Redhawks lone point of the match. Fehr (1-6, 4-6) matched up with Zelic on court one, while Dimova (1-6, 0-6) battled against Pethybridge on court two and Grossman (2-6, 3-6) took on Marija Elenova on court four. Alvarez Sanabria (1-6, 1-6) fell to Rouf on court five, while Rasmussen (3-6, 0-6) concludes the singles matches against Schuster on court six. 

Seattle U concludes their Las Vegas trip with a match against UNLV, starting at 10 a.m. at the Fertitta Tennis Complex tommorow.
