EUGENE, Ore. - Seattle U track and field continue the 2022 outdoor season this upcoming weekend, splitting the team into two for the Hayward Premiere, hosted by Oregon, and the NW Distance Jamboree, hosted by Portland State. Seattle U will be taking 36 athletes to compete over the two events with the majority competing in the Hayward Premiere.
The Hayward Premiere will span across two days, Apr. 1-2, at the prestigious Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Friday's field events are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. with the men's hammer throw, while the running events start at 5:45 p.m. with the men's 1500m open. Saturday's action kicks off at 11 a.m. with the women's discus, while running events begin with the 4x100m relay at 12:30 p.m.
Hayward Field is scheduled to host the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships as well as the IAAF World Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2022. This will be the first time Seattle U athletes will compete at the 250 million dollar track and field only facility.

On both sides, the meet will feature Bushnell, Central Washington, Eastern Washington, George Fox, Idaho, Long Beach State, Montana, Northern Colorado, Oregon, Portland, Portland State, Southern Oregon, Utah Valley, Washington State, Weber State and Wichita State, while Gonzaga will compete only on the men's and Oregon State only on the women's.
The NW Distance Jamboree will take place at Titan Stadium on the campus of Lane Community College. The track only event will take place on Apr. 2 and open with the sprints/hurdles group at 5:15 p.m. with 100m, while distance events begin at 5:45 p.m. with the women's 800m.

Last time out, Seattle U earned first place out of 12 on the men's side and second place on the women's side at the Oregon State PNW Invitational. Junior Isaiah Payne took first overall in the 100m and 200m, setting a new school record in the latter. Overall, the Redhawks set another seven top-ten marks and 25 personal records (PR).
