OREM, Utah – The Seattle U Redhawks split a pair of games with the Utah Valley Wolverines, winning 8-4 in game one and falling 9-1 in game two. Carley Nance homered in both games to take the WAC lead in RBI. Olivia Viggiano had multiple hits in both games.
Seattle U is 17-14 overall and 3-2 in WAC play after today's games. The Redhawks and Wolverines will face off again tomorrow in the series rubber match as Seattle U goes for its 14th consecutive WAC series win.
GAME ONE
Eight different Redhawks recording hits before the fourth inning even began as Seattle U rode a big inning to the series-opening win. Seattle U sent 13 batters to the plate in the third inning, with the first six Redhawks all recording hits in the frame.
Madison Kahwaty reached base in all four of her plate appearances, going 2-for-2 in the third inning alone and picking up a walk and a HBP as well in the game. Nance's grand slam erased an early deficit for the Redhawks, one of 13 hits from the Redhawks.
Kalyn Hill led the way with three hits, joining Kahwaty, Viggiano, and Brooke Milder as the four Redhawks with multiple hits in the game. Seven different Redhawks scored runs, with Kahwaty the only one to score multiple times.
GAME ONE SCORING
Viggiano had two hits and Nance homered once again for the Redhawks in the game two loss. Seattle U was victimized by three big innings: Utah Valley scored three in the first, the third, and the fifth.

- Third Inning: Nance's fifth career grand slam was just a part of a big offensive showing. Seattle U saw three different pitchers in the third inning alone. It was Seattle U's highest-scoring inning since scoring eight in the second against Idaho State on March 6, 2021.
- Fifth Inning: Utah Valley loaded the bases with no outs, allowing the Wolverines to eventually score three runs in the inning, cutting it to 7-4.
- Sixth Inning: The Redhawks once again loaded the bases, this time with just one out, allowing Seattle U to pick up another run and make it 8-4 on Coleman's groundout.

GAME TWO SCORING
- First Inning: Utah Valley struck early, scoring three runs in the first and putting four of the first five batters on base.
- Third Inning: Utah Valley had three straight singles to make it 4-0. The Wolverines would get two more in the inning, on an RBI single and a steal of home.
- Fourth Inning: Nance launched a home run to right-center to start the inning and get the Redhawks on the board, 6-1.
- Fifth Inning: Back-to-back triples were a big part of Utah Valley pushing the game into run-rule territory at 9-1.
NOTES
- McKenna Crum (1x5, R, RBI) made her first career start in game one.
- Nance (2x6, 2 HR, 5 RBI) set a new career high in RBI and in home runs today, doing so in 20 fewer games than 2019.
- Nance also took over the WAC lead in RBI with 35.
- Madrigal (7.0 IP, 4 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) picked up her WAC-leading 11th win and remained undefeated against WAC opponents in her career.
- Kalyn Hill (3x6, R) set a new career high with a three-hit performance in game one, her fifth multi-hit game.
- Viggiano (4x8, R, RBI) has multiple hits in five of the last eight games.
