SEATTLE – The Seattle U Redhawks took two wins the WAC opener, beating California Baptist 5-2 and 3-2 in a doubleheader. Seattle U never trailed in either game, scoring within the first five batters of the game both times.
Seattle U moves to 16-12 on the year and 2-0 in the WAC with the wins. The Redhawks have already clinched this weekend's series and will look to go for a sweep tomorrow with one more game against California Baptist.
MeKenzie Madokoro had multiple hits in both games for the Redhawks to help jumpstart the offense. Brooke Milder and Tai Wilson had hits in both games as well, with that duo combining to go 6-for-11.
GAME ONE
Stefanie Madrigal matched her career high with her tenth win, allowing only one earned run in yet another complete-game win. Madrigal had three 1-2-3 innings, including the seventh, and did not allow a runner to reach scoring position over the final two innings.
Five of Seattle U's six leadoff hitters reached safely in the game, with Olivia Viggiano doing so twice. Viggiano would have a third hit, an RBI single in the sixth, to match her career high.
Madokoro and Milder also had multi-hit days. Madokoro drove in runs on both of her hits, a first-inning triple and a sixth-inning single. Milder doubled and drove in one run, then singled and scored in the sixth.

GAME TWO SCORING
- First Inning: The Redhawks struck early once again. Hill's ball up the middle was misplayed on the transfer. Smart baserunning allowed the Redhawks to steal a run as the ball was recovered, then had both runners advance as the throw went home.
- Second Inning: After hits by Milder and Kamryn Coleman to start the inning, a thrown home came in time to get the runner but Milder evaded the tag expertly to make it 2-0. Another run would score on Nance's bases-loaded walk.
- Seventh Inning: The first three batters of the inning reached for CBU, making it a 3-1 game with no outs. The Redhawks fought hard and sealed the win though, allowing one more run on a sacrifice fly before finishing the 3-2 win.
- Viggiano (3x8, R, RBI) had her hit streak end after seven games. She hit .480 in that time.
- Viggiano moved to sixth in Seattle U history in runs scored, passing Madison Cathcart.
- Madrigal (7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 2 K) has allowed just three earned runs over her last 20 innings.
- Madokoro (4x7, 2 R) is hitting .414 when batting second.
- Luderer (7.0 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 4K) is 2-0 at home with a 2.15 ERA.
