SEATTLE – The sweep was not to be as the Seattle U Redhawks fell 12-0 to the California Baptist Lancers on Saturday. The loss ended a streak of ten straight WAC wins at Logan Field for the Redhawks, stretching back to April 16, 2021.

Despite the loss today, the Redhawks still earned their 13th consecutive WAC series win. Seattle U has not lost a WAC series since April 2018, when it dropped two of three games at New Mexico State. Seattle U had also won five straight WAC games entering today, stretching back to the beginning of the 2021 WAC Tournament.

Kamryn Coleman and Taylor DeDen each had doubles in the game for the Redhawks. Kalyn Hill also had a hit in the game.

Grace Luderer threw the first three innings for the Redhawks, picking up four strikeouts. That included an impressive end to the third where Luderer faced a bases-loaded situation with just one out and got back-to-back strikeouts looking.

SCORING
  • First Inning: California Baptist loaded the bases with just one out, with Luderer doing well to limit the Lancers to just two runs.
  • Fourth Inning: The Redhawks nearly escaped trouble but a two-single doubled CBU's lead, making it 4-0.
  • Fifth Inning: A double to the left-center wall made it 5-0 CBU.
  • Sixth Inning: California Baptist's big inning stretched the score to 12-0.

NOTES
  • Today ended a streak of three straight games scoring in the first inning.

Seattle U hits the road next week, playing three games at Utah Valley, beginning with a doubleheader on Friday, March 25.
