SEATTLE - In a Friday doubleheader matchup with Sacramento State, Seattle U baseball was able to split the two games, falling 0-2 in game one and winning 9-5 in game two.

GAME 1

The Redhawks just couldn't get their offense going in the first game of the day, as the Hornets held them to just four hits and no runs.

Peter Chronowski got the start on the mound and had an impressive start to the ball game, striking out six of the first seven batters that he faced. Despite the start, the Hornets were able to pickup a run in the top of the third.

Sacramento State would add one more in the bottom of the ninth inning to secure the win in the opener 2-0.

GAME 2

It took nine innings, but the Seattle U bats woke up in a big way in game two.

After the Hornets plated one in the top of the first inning, the Redhawks would respond in the bottom half after a Derek Gellos single brought home Gavin Rork. The Redhawks would proceed to jump out to a two run lead when Matt Boissoneault hit a solo homerun and Trevor Antonson drove in another with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.

Sacramento State would not go away easily as they regained the lead after picking up three runs in the sixth inning.

The Redhawks did not allow for the Hornets to enjoy their lead and quickly tied it back up after an RBI single by Boissoneault in the bottom frame. Andrew Haight would bring in another and give the lead to SU after he hit a sacrafice fly that brought home Jackson Reed

A Hornet solo homerun in the top of the sevent would once again knot us up.

Seattle U would pull away over the next two innings. Trevor Antonson hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the seventh to put the homeside in front once again. That was followed by a Grant Heiser 2-run homerun to cap off a 3-run Redhawks innning. An RBI double by Antonson in the following inning would seal the deal for the Redhawks, as they won 9-5.

Getting the win for SU was Jarrod Billig (2-0), after he went 1 and 2/3 inning while giving up only one run on two hits. Alex Jemal was credited with his first save of the season.
