PHOENIX, Ariz. - Seattle U women's golf concluded its final tournament of March Saturday at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational, hosted by Southern Utah, finishing second out of 16 teams. Graduate student Keisha Lugito (76-72-73) and freshman Rivekka Jumagulova (78-73-70) performed the best for SU over the three-day event, tying for fifth with a three-round total of five-over 221. The event took place at the Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah, on the 5,914 yards course with a par of 72.
The Redhawks posted a team score of 26-over 890, with their best round of 294 coming in the final round. As a team, they lead the field in par four average (4.13) and scoring (20-over), while tying for the lead in made pars (161) and finishing in second in made birdies (39).
For Lugito, this is her second highest placement of the season after her third overall finish at the Aggie Invitational back in October. The Walnut, Calif., native led the field in par four average (3.87) and scoring (four-under).
As for Jumagulova, she adds another impressive performance to an already stellar freshman season. The Almaty, Kazakhstan, native improved her performance every round, finishing fifth in par four average (4.03) and scoring (one-over) and second in made pars (37).
Freshman Shayna Lu (74-74-75) and senior Samantha Bruce (71-78-77) also turned in top-15 performances. Lu finished tied for third in par five average (4.83) and scoring (two-under) as well as tied for fourth in made birdies (10) in her ninth overall finish. Bruce tied for 12th overall and tied for seventh in both par four (4.13, four-over) and par five (5, even) average and scoring.
Junior Megan Kelly (82-81-76) rounds out the team score in her season debut with a three-round total of 239.
The Redhawks' next tournament will take them to Maricopa, Arizona, for the Cowgirl Classic, hosted by Wyoming, from Apr. 4-5.
