LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Seattle U men's basketball (17-5, 8-1 WAC) continues its two-game swing on one of the most challenging Western Athletic Conference road trips, traveling to Las Cruces, N.M., for a match-up against NM State (18-3, 8-1 WAC) on Saturday. The Redhawks and Aggies will tip off at 4 p.m. Mountain Time, 3 p.m. Pacific at the Pan American Center. The game will broadcast live on ESPN+, Comcast NM, Bally Sports AZ+, 'THE CW' El Paso/Las Cruces, and can be hear over the airwaves on KXSU 102.1 FM in Seattle or kxsu.org.

- Seattle U had its historic eight-game WAC win streak halted on Thursday in a 78-66 final at Grand Canyon.
- Overall, the win streak had reached nine straight, the longest since a 10-game streak from Jan. 13, 2009-Feb. 27, 2009.
- The loss moved the Redhawks to 17-5 on the season and 8-1 in the WAC.
- The 17-5 record through the season's first 22 games remains the best mark for a Seattle U team since the 1963-64 season. That team went 19-4 before losing a fifth time, and ultimately finished 22-6.
- Darrion Trammell led the Redhawks with 23 points at GCU, marking the seventh time this season that he has led the team in scoring.
- Cameron Tyson added 16 points, but no other Redhawk reached double figures.
- Riley Grigsby was held scoreless at Grand Canyon on Feb. 3 for the first time since Nov. 30, 2019 when he went 0-1 in six minutes of play. Grigsby successfully scored in 61 consecutive games between the two dates.
ABOUT THE SERIES VS NM STATE
This will be the 24th meeting all-time between Seattle U and NM State. The Aggies hold an 19-4 advantage over the Redhawks in the all-time series. Two of Seattle U's wins have come in the last eight meetings, including a split in the series last season.
The Redhawks snapped a five-game Aggie win streak on Feb. 12, 2021 in Seattle with an 83-72 victory. Four Redhawks scored in double figures in the win including Darrion Trammell (22), Aaron Nettles (12), Emeka Udenyi (12) and Riley Grigsby (10). Prior to that, Seattle U's last victory came on Feb. 17, 2018. On Senior Day at KeyArena, Jordan Hill poured in 24 points and Josh Hearlihy added 19 as Seattle U snapped a seven-game skid against the Aggies with a 73-63 OT victory.
NM State holds an 8-0 record over Seattle U at the Pan American Center, where they have also won 30 consecutive home games against WAC opponents dating back to 2017. The Aggies' last loss to a WAC team in the Pan American Center came on Feb. 23, 2017, when they dropped an 84-72 decision to Utah Valley.

- Darrion Trammell has been ranked among the nation's best in steals this season, and is now swiping his way into the Seattle U record book.
- With one stolen ball on Thursday at Grand Canyon, he hit 55 for the season, moving him into a tie for 10th in Seattle U's single-season record book. He sits alongside Brendan Westendorf (2016-17).
- Next on the list is Kenny Bush (1995-96) and Westendorf (15-16) in a tie for 8th with 56 steals.
- Topping the Seattle U single-season steals list is Ray Brooks (1984-85) with 84.
TYSON FOR THREE
- With 80 made threes through 22 games, Cameron Tyson is tied for 7th with Jarell Flora (2014-15) on Seattle U's single-season top-10 list for single season three pointers. Next on the list is Sterling Carter (2010-11) at No. 6 with 85 three pointers.
- Isiah Umipig tops the list with 123 made threes during the 2014-15 season. Umipig is the only player to top 100 threes in a season, also holding the No. 2 spot with 106 from the 2013-14 season.
- Tyson scored 23 points on Dec. 1 versus McNeese thanks to seven three pointers - the most 3s in a single game for a Redhawk since Matej Kavas drained 7-of-9 from deep against Detroit Mercy on Nov. 18, 2017.
- Tyson had seven threes for a second time this season on Jan. 15 versus Dixie State.
- His personal single-game record is 10, set last season while playing for University of Houston.
- Seattle U's single-game record is nine, achieved twice, and last in 2005.
ABOUT THE STREAK
- The Redhawks' nine-game win streak that ran from Dec. 22, 2021 through Jan. 29, 2022 was the longest streak since winning 10 straight from Jan 13, 2009 through Feb. 27, 2009.
- The nine-game streak surpassed a six-game run earlier this season.
- The nine-game stretch included four road wins. The Redhawks last had four road wins in a season in 2018-19, though just two of those came during WAC play.
GRIGSBY JOINS 1,000 POINT CLUB
Riley Grigsby's turnaround jumper at the 9:03 mark of the second half versus Sam Houston pushed him over the 1,000-point mark for his career. He finished the night with 11 points and now has 1,005 career points. The last players to achieve the feat were Terrell Brown and Morgan Means, who both reached the milestone during the 2019-20 season. Grigsby became the fifth Seattle U player to reach the 1,000-point mark in the modern Division I era, joining Aaron Broussard, Brown, Means and Isiah Umipig as those who have achieved the feat.
VICTOR EARNS COACHING HONOR
After leading the Redhawks to a 3-0 record on the road last week, Interim Head Coach Chris Victor was selected as the Week 11 HoopDirt.com Division I Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions. The weekly honor makes him eligible to receive the HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2021-22 college basketball season. This is the seventh season that HoopDirt.com has run the Coach of the Week and Coach of the Year programs.
SCHEDULE CHANGES
Due to COVID-19 issues within the program, Seattle U was forced to postpone its first two WAC games, originally scheduled for Dec. 30 (vs. NM State) and Jan. 2 (at California Baptist). Both games were rescheduled to take place Jan. 17 at California Baptist and Feb. 21 versus NM State.
