SPOKANE, Wash. – After over a month without a meet, the Seattle U Redhawks returned to the pool in style at Whitworth. The Redhawks broke five different pool records, winning 13 events in the meet.

Will Corona broke a pool record from 1986, swimming a 1:40.94 in the 200 Free that was also the ninth-best time in Seattle U history, as well as earning the 100 Back title with a 51.37. Emmett Moore broke a ten-year-old pool record with his 50.32 in the 100 Fly, the best time this year by a Redhawk.

Sammy Mosier broke a 20-year-old pool record in the 50 Free, swimming a 23.98 that was the sixth-fastest 50 Free time in Seattle U history. Mosier was also a part of the 200 Free Relay team, along with Lydia Genson, Allison Plamondon, and Kalie Bui, that broke a pool record set in 1997. Genson also broke the 200 Free pool record with her time of 1:54.44.

Mosier, Corona, and Juan Varela all earned multiple individual event wins. Juan Varela took home event titles in the 1650 Free (16:26.11) and 500 Free (4:48.10). Corona earned both the 200 Free and 100 Back titles. Mosier won the 50 Free, the 100 Fly (57.36), and the 200 Medley Relay (1:49.02) alongside Genson, Bui, and Plamondon.

In addition to the 200 Medley Relay title, Genson and Plamondon each won individual events. Genson set a new season best for the Redhawks with her 1:54.44 in the 200 Free and took second in the 100 Back with a 59.70, just one one-hundredth of a second off her season-best time. Plamondon won the 100 Free with a 53.86 and took second in the 50 Free behind Mosier with her time of 24.77.

Four other Redhawks earned titles. The trio of Nicholas Imig (21.47), Tyler Goodspeed (21.85), and Noa Copp (21.91) swept the 50 Free for the Redhawks. Jack Neton won the 400 IM with a time of 4:11.58, finishing just ahead of George Thiss (4:12.49). Moore's pool-record time of 50.32 won the 100 Fly. Bui earned a 100 Breast title with her 1:05.54.

Senior Day is next for the Redhawks, who will host Southwest Oregon Community College on Saturday, February 5 at 11:00 am PT. That will be the final meet before the WAC Championships, set to begin February 24.
