QUICK HITS

  • And the streak extends to eight. Continuing to impress during a historic run through the 2021-22 season, Seattle U downed Tarleton, 72-68, on Saturday in Stephenville, Texas.
  • The win marked the eighth straight for the Redhawks as they moved to 16-4 on the season and 7-0 in the WAC. This marks the first-ever 7-0 start in the WAC in 10 seasons and keeps Seattle U as the lone unbeaten atop the current WAC standings.
  • This marks the first time Seattle U has had 16 wins in its first 20 games since the 1963-64 season. That team also began 16-4, stretched that to 19-4, and ultimately finished 22-6.
  • Riley Grigsby led a trio of Redhawks scoring in double figures against Stephen F. Austin, finishing with 18 points, along with a team-high nine rebounds.
  • Cameron Tyson added 17 points and Darrion Trammell chipped in 10 to go with eight assists.
  • Once again the Redhawks got production from the entire lineup as all nine players who saw action scored.
  • The Redhawks hit 10 three-pointers against SFA on Wednesday, marking the 12th time this season that they've made double-digit threes. They lead the WAC averaging 10.3 three-pointers per game.

ABOUT THE STREAK

  • The Redhawks have won eight straight games, the longest streak since winning 10 straight from Jan 13, 2009 through Feb. 27, 2009.
  • The current eight-game streak surpassed a six-game run earlier this season.
  • The eight-game stretch includes four road wins. The Redhawks last had four road wins in a season in 2018-19, though just two of those came during WAC play.
  • The streak has helped Seattle U climb up the NCAA NET rankings. The Redhawks entered the week at 125, the highest rank the program has received, and lowered that number to 123 in games played through Jan. 27.
  • In games played through Jan. 26, Seattle U was one of just 21 DI programs unbeaten in conference play.

EYING 1,000
Riley Grigsby's 18 points versus Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday gives him 994 for his career. He now needs just six more points to join the Seattle U 1,000-point club. The last players to achieve the feat were Terrell Brown and Morgan Means, who both reached the milestone during the 2019-20 season. Grigsby will become the fifth Seattle U player to reach the 1,000-point mark in the modern Division I era, joining Aaron Broussard, Brown, Means and Isiah Umipig as those who have achieved the feat.
