SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Seattle U women's tennis opened the 2022 dual season Friday with a trip to Salt Lake City, Utah, to take on Utah at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. The Utes got off to a hot start in doubles play and never let up, winning in a decisive 7-0 sweep on their home courts.
Utah started the match by claiming the doubles point. Freshman Jade Quintana and Liliya Dimova (0-6) teamed up against Madison Tattini and Linda Huang, while fellow freshman Elena Kraleva and Mireia Fehr (0-6) took on Anastasia Goncharova and Emily Dush and seniors Jillian Rasmussen and Hannah Grossman (0-6) rounded out doubles play against Lindsay Hung and Katya Hersh.
In singles play, Fehr (6-2, 2-6 (5-10)) was the closest Redhawk to winning their singles match as she forced Hung to a superset that she narrowly lost. Dimova (2-6, 0-6) matched up against Huang, while Quntana (2-6, 1-6) battled against Goncharova and Grossman (0-6, 2-6) squared off against Lamoreaux. Rasmussen (0-6, 1-6) rounds out the singles matches as she took on Hersh. Samantha Horwood was awarded a singles point on court six as Seattle U only competed five members in singles play.
Seattle U will conclude its weekend in Utah with a matchup against Montana at 8 a.m. tomorrow.
