SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Seattle U women's tennis completed its weekend trip to Utah on Sunday against Montana at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. Despite victories from freshman Liliya Dimova in both doubles and singles play, the Grizzles narrowly prevailed, 4-3, in this dual matchup.
Seattle U was able to clinch the doubles point as freshman Elena Kraleva and Dimova defeated Olivia Oosterbaan and Ivayla Mitkova by a scoreline of 6-4 and seniors Jillian Rasmussen and Hannah Grossman were awarded the victory by default on court three. The remaining doubles match saw freshman Jade Quintana and Mireia Fehr (1-6) team up against Lauren Dunlap and Grace Haugen.
In singles play, Dimova (6-3, 1-6, 7-6) captured the victory after battling with Oosterbaan through three competitive sets. Fehr (6-2, 3-6, 2-6) and Quintana (7-5, 1-6, 3-6) were close to clinching the dual match victory as they both pushed Haugen and Dunlap to a third set in their respective singles matches. Grossman (5-7, 0-6) started off strong but feel off in the second set against Mitkova, while Rasmussen (0-6, 0-6) faced off against Walker. Kraleva was awarded a point for Seattle U via victory by default on court six.
The Redhawks will be back in action next weekend, January 28 and 29, against Montana State and Oral Roberts in Bozeman, Mont.
