QUICK HITS
- Seattle U rallied from a halftime deficit for the second time in three games, toppling California Baptist, 92-85, in overtime, Monday in Riverside, Calif.
- The win marked the fifth straight for the Redhawks as they moved to 13-4 on the season and 4-0 in the WAC. This marks the first-ever 4-0 start in the WAC in 10 seasons.
- This marks the first time Seattle U has had 13 wins in its first 17 games since the 1968-69 season. That team was 14-4 before suffering its fifth loss.
- Darrion Trammell led the way against the Lancers, finishing with a game-high 25 points to go along with seven assists, six rebounds and two steals.
- Riley Grigsby added 18 points, including the game-tying three at the end or regulation to send the game into extra time.
- Cameron Tyson added 16 points, including 4-of-6 from three.
- Darrion Trammell had his free throw streak snapped Monday at California Baptist. After making 31 straight over five consecutive games played, he would miss the mark on his fourth attempt versus the Lancers. He would finish the night 5-for-7. The streak began on Dec. 18 at Washington. He would hit four straight to conclude that game, then went 12-of-12, 8-of-8, 4-of-4 and 3-of-3 before the miss.
- The Redhawks hit 12 three-pointers on 23 attempts (52.2%) against CBU, marking the 10th time this season that they've made double-digit threes. They lead the WAC averaging 10.6 three-pointers per game.
SCHEDULE CHANGES
Due to COVID-19 issues within the program, Seattle U was forced to postpone its first two WAC games, originally scheduled for Dec. 30 (vs. NM State) and Jan. 2 (at California Baptist). Both games were rescheduled to take place Jan. 17 at California Baptist and Feb. 21 versus NM State.
EYING 1,000
Riley Grigsby's 18 points at California Baptist on Jan. 17 gives him 950 for his career. He now needs just 50 more points to join the Seattle U 1,000-point club. The last players to achieve the feat were Terrell Brown and Morgan Means, who both reached the milestone during the 2019-20 season.
TYSON FOR THREE
- Cameron Tyson scored 23 points on Dec. 1 versus McNeese thanks to seven three pointers - the most 3s in a single game for a Redhawk since Matej Kavas drained 7-of-9 from deep against Detroit Mercy on Nov. 18, 2017.
- Tyson had seven threes for a second time this season on Jan. 15 versus Dixie State.
- His personal single-game record is 10, set last season while playing for University of Houston.
- Seattle U's single-game record is nine, achieved twice, and last in 2005.
- WIth 64 made threes through 17 games, and 14 regular-season games remaining, he sits just 11 threes shy of entering Seattle U's single-season top-10 list. Isiah Umipig tops the list with 123 made threes during the 2014-15 season.
