RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Behind huge plays from up and down the lineup, Seattle U men's basketball won its fourth consecutive Western Athletic Conference game, downing California Baptist, 92-85, in overtime at the CBU Events Center in Riverside, Calif.

Riley Grigsby buried a three with four seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime, 73-73. From there it was all Seattle U in a dominant extra frame performance. They would win the tip, jump out to an 87-74 lead and hold on as the two teams combined to shoot 27 free throws in the five-minute period.

"This was a very impressive team win," said Interim Head Coach Chris Victor. "We talk about winning on the road and what that looks like and how you get it done. In the first half we were not doing those things. But we went in the locker room at halftime and challenged the guys and they came out with that understanding of what needed to get done."

Darrion Trammell led all scorers with 25 points to go along with seven assists and six rebounds. Grigsby finished with 18 points in just 23 minutes after being saddled with foul trouble throughout. Cameron Tyson added 16 points.

Nine total Redhawks contributed on the night. Kyree Brown collected nine points and four assists, Vas Pandža added eight points and seven rebounds and Emeka Udenyi chipped in eight points, eight rebounds and four blocks.

"You can pick six or seven different guys that made individual plays to bring us back and to take the lead," Victor said. "Obviously the big one is Riley's three at the end of regulation, but there were so many and that is how you win a road game and become a really good team, you have different guys making winning plays throughout. We got better tonight."

In a game that saw 41 total turnovers, including an uncharacteristic 19 from the Redhawks, as well as 56 total fouls and 68 total free throws shot, Seattle U struggled to find rhythm in the opening half, ultimately suffering a three-minute scoring drought to close out the frame. CBU (12-6, 1-3 WAC) would take a 41-33 lead into the break.

The Lancers would push their lead briefly to 10, 46-36, at the 17:30 mark before an 8-0 Redhawk run cut it to a one-possession game, 46-44.

A Brown floating jumper in the paint knotted the score at 50-all and Trammell would give the Redhawks their first lead, 53-52, since the early goings with a three pointer at the 10:05 mark. The spread would get no larger than four for the remainder of regulation.

A Reed Nottage layup gave CBU a 73-70 advantage with 22 ticks remaining and Grigsby would miss his first three-point opportunity on the ensuing possession. But Trammell came up with a huge offensive rebound and kicked it back out to Grigsby for the second attempt that would go down clean and force extra time.

Pandža, Tyson and Trammell each hit from deep in the overtime period to help build the big 13-point lead. The final 1:15 of play would see only free throws as Seattle U held the Lancers without a field goal in the period.

Sitting at 13-4 overall and 4-0 in WAC play, the Redhawks remain on the road for two more, traveling to face conference newcomer Abilene Christian on Thursday, followed by Tarleton State on Saturday. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+ and can be heard on the airwaves on KXSU 102.1 FM in Seattle and kxsu.org.
