SEATTLE – Hal Uderitz of Seattle University men's soccer was selected by the Seattle Sounders with the 76th pick in the 2022 Major League Soccer SuperDraft on Tuesday. Uderitz is the seventh player drafted in the last five years out of Seattle U.
"I am thrilled for Hal and the Seattle Sounders," said head coach Pete Fewing. "This has been a goal for Hal since he was young, and I am really happy for him and his family. He is a great fit for the culture that Brian Schmetzer has created and I look forward to watching him progress in his professional career."
Uderitz, a native of Snohomish, Wash., has spent the past four years with the program. In that span, the midfielder made 71 appearances for the Redhawks and tallied 13 goals to go along with nine assists. He was a terrific defensive leader and was a key contributor to the team's NCAA Tournament berth this season. Uderitz was selected to the All-WAC Tournament Team and was one of four Redhawks picked for the United Soccer Coaches All-Far West Region.
SU has now had nine players selected in the MLS Draft. The Sounders have now selected four Redhawks in the last five MLS SuperDrafts, with Alex Roldan most notably selected in 2017.
