ST. GEORGE, Utah – A five-set thriller narrowly went against the Redhawks, who fell 25-19, 25-27, 25-23, 23-25, 8-15 to Dixie State. Ezgi Ozkan recorded 26 assists, becoming the fourth Redhawk ever to reach the 1500-assist mark in their career.
 
It was a tight match through and through, with three sets decided by two points each. The Redhawks took advantage of quick runs in each of the first two sets to take the lead, only for a late run by Dixie State giving them set two.A review in the fifth set proved pivotal, as Dixie State went on a 6-1 run after that stoppage to win the match.
 
Julia Queiroz made a strong return to the lineup, recording a season-high 14 kills. Queiroz also managed two solo blocks, moving her to a tie for second in Redhawk history in career solo blocks with 35. She would record six kills and make just one error in the first two sets.
 
Ozkan and Darian Goins each recorded 20-assist nights. Goins had 20 assists and ten digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Katlyn Sipes also had a double-digit dig performance, leading the team with 16.
 
Three different Redhawks had double-digit kills on the night, led by Queiroz. Eve Kerschenbaum had 12 kills and just two errors, hitting a team-leading .370 on the night. Sofia Sanchez had 11 kills, moving her over the 600-kill mark in her career.

The last game of the regular season will be this Saturday, November 13 on the road. The Redhawks will take on Utah Valley at 12:00 pm PT.

  • Queiroz is now tied with Jordan Keller for second all-time in solo blocks.
  • Ozkan joins Jamie Mellies, Kerry Lane, and Shae Harris as the only Redhawks with 1500+ career assists.
  • Sipes has over 250 digs on the season after tonight's performance.
