SEATTLE – The Seattle U Redhawks ended the weekend with a 20-25, 21-25, 21-25 loss to the Dixie State Trailblazers Saturday afternoon. Sierra Bartley and Julia Queiroz each had seven kills to lead the Redhawks, with Bartley making just one error.
Lauren McCabe had four kills and no errors, joining Bartley in hitting over .300 on the day. Queiroz recorded four blocks in addition to her seven kills, with Bartley recording two blocks as well.
Six different Redhawks had double-digit attacks in the game as Seattle U looked for a group approach to the offense. Ezgi Ozkan kept her strong run of play going, recording 27 assists after recording a season-high 39 in Thursday's match. Ozkan's 11 digs gave her her first double-double of the season.
A back-and-forth match just didn't see the bounces go Seattle U's way. Every set was within a point at the media timeout, with Dixie State's late runs making the difference. The Redhawks put together an 8-0 run in the third set after winning a review, only for Dixie State's responding 7-1 run tying it back up.
The Redhawks have two matches against California Baptist next week, first on the road on Thursday, October 14 at 7:00 pm. The two teams will then play at the Redhawk Center on Saturday, October 16 at 1:00 pm.
