SEATTLE  – On Senior Day, the Seattle U Redhawks fought hard but fell 18-25, 20-25, 23-25 to the New Mexico State Aggies. The Redhawks had four different players record multiple blocks on the day, led by Lauren McCabe's six.
 
McCabe and Sierra Bartley had a flawless first set, combining for six kills, no errors, and three blocks. McCabe would end the day with five kills and no errors, while Bartley finished second on the team with six kills, matching Sam Hayward. Eve Kerschenbaum had eight kills, the most on the team, despite appearing in only two sets.
 
Azzia MacDonald had four blocks, giving her ten blocks in two matches this weekend. Bartley and Ezgi Ozkan each had two blocks for the Redhawks.
 
Ozkan also had 11 assists, narrowly outpacing Darian Goins, who had ten, for the team lead. Kylie Waters led Seattle U with eight digs.
 
The Redhawks bounced back from an early deficit in the third set, forcing 12 errors in that set alone and taking it to a 23-23 score before back-to-back New Mexico State kills ended the set and match.
 
The penultimate weekend of the season is coming up for Seattle U. The Redhawks will play at Chicago State on Saturday, November 6 at 11:00 am PT in their only game next week.

  • Goins has 17 straight double-digit assist matches.
  • In her last four matches, Hayward has 24 kills.
  • Kailee Kurokawa has 29 digs in the last four matches.
  • This was McCabe's fifth straight match with three or more blocks.
