SEATTLE – The Seattle U Redhawks put together a complete performance from start to finish in a 2-1 victory over the Air Force Falcons Saturday night. Seattle U handed Air Force its first loss of the WAC slate behind a cavalcade of 27 shots. The Redhawks move to 8-6 overall with the win and 4-2 in WAC play.
Declan McGlynn and Habib Barry had the goals for Seattle U, both coming in the second half. The Redhawks would allow just nine shots after Air Force initially took the lead, firing 22 of their own after that point.
Akili Kasim made five saves for the Redhawks to pick up his eighth win of the year. His 208-minute home shutout streak would come to an end with Air Force's first-half goal.
McGlynn and Levonte Johnson were the engines of Seattle U's offense. That duo combined for 17 shots in the game, with both playing all 90 minutes. Over and over again, McGlynn and Johnson dribbled their way through a wall of Falcon defenders, creating dangerous chances around the net.
Sam Tessler also had a near-goal off one of Seattle U's nine corners. The senior got his head on a ball into the box in the first half, pushing it on goal and forcing a diving catch by the Air Force keeper.
The Redhawks are on the road for two games next week. First, Seattle U will play at Incarnate Word on Friday, October 22 at 5:30 pm PT. After that, Seattle U faces off at UTRGV on Sunday, October 24 at 11:00 am PT.
