Jumagulova, Redhawks Sweep Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational

LAKEWOOD, Wash – Seattle U women's golf captured its first team victory of the 2021-22 season on Tuesday, finishing first out of 20 teams at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational. Freshman Rivekka Jumagulova completed the trophy sweep by winning the individual title with a strong round three performance and a three-round total of 5-under 211 (70-73-68).

LAKEWOOD, Wash – Seattle U women's golf captured its first team victory of the 2021-22 season on Tuesday, finishing first out of 20 teams at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational. Freshman Rivekka Jumagulova completed the trophy sweep by winning the individual title with a strong round three performance and a three-round total of 5-under 211 (70-73-68).

The Redhawks posted a team score of 21-over 885, leading all teams in par three scoring average. SU also tied for first in par five scoring average and made a total of 35 birdies over the three-day event. The 54-hole event took place at the Tacoma Country & Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash., on the 6,086 yards course with a par of 72.

Jumagulova sets the record for lowest 54-hole total at 211 and finished first in made birdies at 14. She also led the field in par five scoring average and tied for first in par three scoring average. 

Fellow freshman Shayna Lu (72-72-78) finished in the top-10, while junior Azumi Arai (80-72-79) tied Jumagulova for first in par three scoring average. Senior Samantha Bruce and graduate student Keisha Lugito round out SU's team score with three round totals of 232 (75-78-79) and 234 (70-86-78).

Competing as individuals were graduate student Vendela From and freshman Annika Cruz, Maria FedorowyczKonomi Matsubara and Samantha Yates. Fedorowycz (82-75-73) improved every round, while Cruz (80-84-75) posted her best score in the final round and Yates (78-79-84) finished just two strokes behind her. From and Matsubara complete the group of individuals with three round totals of 243 (86-79-78) and 254 (83-81-90). 

Seattle U's next tournament will take them to Boulder City, Nev., for the Clash at Boulder Creek, hosted by Northern Arizona from Oct. 24-26.
