Julia Queiroz hit over .400 for the second time this year as Seattle U fell to New Mexico State.

LAS CRUCES, N.M.  – The first WAC road trip of the year started with the Seattle U Redhawks taking the loss against the New Mexico State Aggies 22-25, 18-25, 20-25. The Redhawks were led by Eve Kerschenbaum and Julia Queiroz, who combined for 18 of Seattle U's 33 kills. Queiroz hit .400 on the match, her second match in the last four hitting .400 or better.
 
Katlyn Sipes had six digs in the first set alone en route to her fifth consecutive double-digit dig match. Kylie Waters matched her with 11 digs, giving Waters 31 digs in the last three matches.
 
Darian Goins and Ezgi Ozkan each had double-digit assists, the ninth consecutive match in which both have played and both have recorded 10+ assists.
 
There were exciting finishes to all three sets as the Redhawks fought back from early deficits. Seattle U made it 22-23 in the first set before falling, then outscored New Mexico State 11-6 down the stretch in set two after a timeout but still fell behind 2-0. Seattle U would lead 14-12 in the final set of the night before 5-1 and 4-0 New Mexico State runs ended the match.

The Redhawks are back in action on Saturday, taking on Grand Canyon at 3:00 pm PT on ESPN+.

  • Sofia Sanchez reached the 500-kill mark in her career tonight.
  • Goins had her fourth consecutive match with at least one kill and no errors.
  • Kerschenbaum now has six double-digit kill matches this season.
