DENVER, Colo. - Seattle U women's tennis freshman Mireia Fehr has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Singles Athlete of the Month, for the month of September, the WAC announced on Monday.
The Pfaeffikon, Switzerland, native was dominate in singles play at the WSU Cougar Classic. In the Red singles quarterfinals, Fehr defeated Utah State's Brooke Demerath in convincing fashion, 6-1, 6-2. She followed up that performance with another strong victory against Montana's Aili Hietala by a score of 6-1, 6-1. She finished the tournament with a championship as she triumphed over Portland State's Majo Hernandez, 6-2, 6-2.
"I am extremly proud of Mireia and the way she has been representing Seattle U," said Head Coach Kristina Hollander. "This is a wonderful accomplishment for her and a tremendous way to start off her college career."
Fehr and the Redhawks will conclude their fall schedule with the ITA Regional Championships in Palo Alto, Calif., from October 22-26.
