SEATTLE – Seattle University men's soccer won, 1-0, at Seattle Pacific on Thursday night. Jesse Ortiz scored the game-winner in the exhibition match at SPU.

"I give SPU a lot of credit," said SU Coach Pete Fewing. "They were organized and made it tough to play against. Our bench played well for us and I'm excited about our depth this year."

The game was 0-0 late in the first half. Rory King sent in cross that found Ortiz, who smashed a shot into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Akili Kasim made one save in net in the first half and then Zach Nelson made the lead stand up with a key stop in the second frame.

SU is set to begin the regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 3. The Redhawks, owners of the longest active unbeaten streak in Division I (16 games), welcome Gonzaga to Championship Field for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
