Redhawks Open Season at WSU Cougar Classic

PULLMAN, Wash. - Seattle U women's tennis will open its 2021-22 season tomorrow in Pullman, Wash., at the Cougar Classic, hosted by Washington State. The event is scheduled to be held from September 24-26 at the WSU Outdoor Tennis Courts with start times of 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday.

PULLMAN, Wash. - Seattle U women's tennis will open its 2021-22 season tomorrow in Pullman, Wash., at the Cougar Classic, hosted by Washington State. The event is scheduled to be held from September 24-26 at the WSU Outdoor Tennis Courts with start times of 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday. 

In the Crimson singles draw, Seattle U will be represented by freshman Elena Kraleva, while fellow freshman Liliya Dimova will compete in the Gray singles bracket. The Red singles bracket will feature freshman Jade Quintana and Mireia Fehr. The tournament will include athletes from Boise State, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana, Portland State, Utah State and the hosts, Washington State.

Kraleva and Quintana will partner up for the Crimson doubles flight, while Dimova and Fehr will team up in the Gray doubles bracket.

All four competitors for SU are newcomers to the team this season. 

Dimova, a native of Varna, Bulgaria, arrives with numerous accomplishments under her belt as she won first place at the national indoor singles tournament, national outdoor singles tournament and national indoor doubles championships in Bulgaria at the U18 level.

Fehr hails from Pfaeffikon, Switzerland, where she placed third in singles and was a finalist in doubles bracket at the Junior Swiss Champions Trophy U16 in 2018.

Kraleva joins from Burgas, Bulgaria, where she was a two-time national team champion (2015-2016) and played in two European Summer Cups at the U12 and U18 level.

Quintana comes from Odyssey Charter High School, in Las Vegas, Nev., where she was an L3 doubles champion.
