Bruce Leads Redhawks to Fifth Place Finish

SPRINGVILLE, Utah - Seattle U women's golf completed play in its opening tournament for the 2021-22 season on Tuesday, finishing fifth place out of 17 teams at the Wolverine Invitational. The Redhawks posted a team score of 41-over, with their best team round of 291 coming in round three on Tuesday. the two-day event took place at Hobble Creek Golf Course in Springville, Utah on the 6,032 yards course with a par of 71.

SPRINGVILLE, Utah - Seattle U women's golf completed play in its opening tournament for the 2021-22 season on Tuesday, finishing fifth place out of 17 teams at the Wolverine Invitational. The Redhawks posted a team score of 41-over, with their best team round of 291 coming in round three on Tuesday. The two-day event took place at Hobble Creek Golf Course in Springville, Utah on the 6,032 yards course with a par of 71. 

Senior Samantha Bruce was Seattle U's top performer, finishing tied for 11th with a three-round total of 219 (70-74-75). Just two strokes behind her was freshman Rivekka Jumagulova, who tied for 14th with a three-round total of 221 (74-76-71) in her first collegiate tournament.

Freshman Shayna Lu (75-79-70) also sealed a top-20 finish with her strong play in round three, while fellow freshman Maria Fedorowycz (79-82-75) rounds out the three collegiate debutantes for SU. Graduate student Keisha Lugito completes Seattle U's team score with a three-round total of 239 (82-75-82).

The Redhawks will have five days to recover before they head to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to compete in the Gonzaga Invitational at Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course.
