PULLMAN, Wash. – Seattle University women's soccer won, 2-1, at Washington State on Thursday night. Jourdyn Curran and Hallie Bergford scored as the Redhawks moved their unbeaten streak to six straight games.

"The team continues to play better and better each game," said Coach Julie Woodward. "They are getting to the point where they really believe in themselves and each other. More importantly, they are a team that never quits. It was a great night for Jourdyn to score her first collegiate goal and a great night for the entire team to contribute. While the Cougs are a very dangerous team, I thought it was a more even game than the shot count may suggest."

Jessica Berlin notched nine stops as SU knocked off the Cougars, who advanced to the 2019 Final Four, for the second time in program history. The first was in the 2014 NCAA Tournament in Pullman.

Seattle U started well, possessing the ball and challenging the WSU defense early. Hallie Bergford took a good look in the box that was denied by the Cougar goalkeeper. Later in the frame, Bailey Hall's volley nearly found the back of the net. The hosts slowly gained control and finished with the final eight shots of the half, but Jessica Berlin tallied three saves to send the match to halftime scoreless.

The Cougars broke through with a go-ahead goal in the 56th minute. Five minutes later, Jourdyn Curran found Sydney Carr, who sent a ball overhead to Bergford. The sophomore headed the ball down as she ran around the goalkeeper. Bergford then won a race to the loose ball and knocked in the equalizer in the 61st minute.

SU earned a free kick from midfield in the 81st minute. Michele Adam dropped a long ball into the box, where Curran corralled it and then chested the ball across the goal line for a 2-1 advantage.

Berlin and the Redhawk defense handled the rest, efforting to prevent the Cougars from tying late.

The Redhawks return home to host Washington on Thursday, Sept. 16. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Championship Field.
