SAN DIEGO – Leahi Manthei scored in the 105th minute to push Seattle University women's soccer to a 3-2 win at San Diego on Saturday night. Sydney Carr scored two goals as the Redhawks wrapped a stellar weekend on the road.

"I was extremely impressed with the team's response at halftime," said Coach Julie Woodward. "This weekend has been incredibly great to see this group defining who and what they want to be as a team. They work, they believe, and they never quit. It was a gritty performance by all."

The Toreros grabbed the lead in the 14th minute. Neither team found much success offensively for the rest of the half, as Jessica Berlin posted two saves in net.

Carr got the Redhawks going in the second frame. In the 52nd minute, she received a pass near midfield and took off down the left flank. She won a footrace with her defender and then hammered a shot low to the left of the USD goalkeeper for the equalizer.

In the 72nd minute, Carr struck again. This time, she collected the ball and turned towards goal. She found herself with space from 30 yards out and fired a shot into the upper left corner for a 2-1 advantage.

The hosts leveled the game in the 85th minute, forcing SU into overtime for a second straight contest. After a fruitless first extra session, the teams prepared for the final 10 minutes. Berlin came up with a stop to keep the game alive and then in the 104th minute, the Redhawks earned a corner kick. Hailee Rasmussen sent a ball to the far post, where Kacey LaBoda put a head on it towards the net. Jourdyn Curran looked to backheel in a shot, but it was blocked. Manthei was on the scene and kicked in the winner from point-blank range.

Berlin totaled four saves in the match.

The Redhawks host Eastern Washington on Thursday. The home opener is slated for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Championship Field.
