• The Redhawks take on the defending NCAA champions on Thursday night.
• SU won, 2-0, at Portland State on Aug. 21. Leahi Manthei and Bailey Hall each scored, while Madison Waguespack and Lexi Davis combined for a shutout of the Vikings.
• The season opener at Oregon State marked the 500th game of Coach Julie Woodward's tenure at Seattle U. In her 25th season at SU, Woodward is one of just 10 active Division I women's soccer coaches to coach at only one school and coach 500 career games. Woodward has 317 career victories.
• Santa Clara is 10th in this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll. It tied California, 1-1, after beating San Jose State, 3-0, last weekend.
• Six Redhawks made their first appearances in the season opener on Aug. 19. Jessica Berlin, Jourdyn Curran, and Kait Raffensperger each started, while Hailee Rasmussen, Daniella Smathers, and Jolie St Louis came in off the bench at Oregon State.
• Seattle U was voted to take second in the newly-formed Western Athletic Conference (WAC) West Division, according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll. Sydney Carr was selected Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.
• The WAC has added four new members for this season, as Abilene Christian, Stephen F. Austin, Lamar, and Sam Houston State have joined the conference. Those members, along with Chicago State and UTRGV, will make up the Southwest Division in women's soccer. Seattle U is in the West Division along with California Baptist, Dixie State, Grand Canyon, New Mexico State, and Utah Valley.
• Senior Sydney Carr led the nation in scoring with 16 goals and 38 points in the spring. The Orange, Calif., native earned WAC Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-WAC, and United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Pacific Region for her efforts.
• Seattle U advanced to its nation's best eighth straight conference tournament championship game in the spring. The Redhawks have won five WAC Tournament crowns and six WAC regular-season titles since 2013. They shared the regular-season championship with Utah Valley in the spring.
• The Redhawks return the majority of their lineup this fall, including fifth-year players Leahi Manthei and Mikaela Morey. Manthei, Sydney Carr, Michele Adam, Emily Bunnell, and Natalie Dixon have each been recognized at All-WAC in their SU careers.
