SEATTLE — Seattle U volleyball and head coach Michelle Cole are pleased to announce the addition of graduate transfers, Sierra Bartley and Darian Goins, for the Fall 2021 campaign.

"We are very excited to be able to add Sierra and Darian to our lineup for the coming season," said Cole. "Both ladies are incredibly talented and had solid careers at their previous schools. Their addition to the roster gives us a bit more experience that should help solidify and elevate us in the fall."

Sierra Bartley – RS / Gr. / 6-2 / Littleton, Colo. (Loyola Marymount)
Bartley joins the Redhawks after a four-year career at Loyola Marymount where she earned her Bachelor's this spring. During her tenure with the Lions, she started 28 of 95 matches and recorded 312 career kills, 103 digs and 84 blocks. She helped LMU to a second round appearance in the 2018 NCAA Volleyball Tournament as a sophomore.

A four-time WCC Scholar-Athlete, Bartley, finished the 2020 season hitting .318 with 81 kills (1.37 per set), was fourth among team leaders with 26 blocks and had 30 digs, while starting 15 of 16 matches. The right side hitter racked up 10 kills on 21 attempts against San Diego (3/13/21) and had a season-best six-block performance against Saint Mary's (Calif.) on Jan. 27, 2021. Bartley hit .300 or better 10 times during her senior campaign including a .600 (6 K-0 E-10 A) outing against BYU (2/17/21) and a .800 (8-0-10) clip versus Santa Clara (2/28/21).

Prior to joining LMU, Bartley was a 2017 graduate from Chatfield Senior HS in Littleton, Colo., where she was a four-year letterwinner and helped her team capture regional titles in 2014, 2015, 2016 as well as a state runner-up finish in 2014.

"Sierra played for one of my old friends at LMU and he raved about her worked ethic," Cole said. "She is the perfect example of fifth-year type SU player. She's in enrolled in our one-year MBA program, loves the outdoors and gets kills. Recruiting Sierra was an easy choice, now we just need to pull her down from the mountian tops often enough to practice with the team."

Darian Goins – S / Gr. / 5-8 / Indianapolis, Ind. (LSU)
Goins comes to the Emerald City with at least two years of athletic eligibility remaining, after a graduating from LSU with her Bachelor's in Communications Disorders. A three-year member of the Tigers, she registered 25 assists, 12 digs and two aces while appearing in 17 sets and 11 matches during her time in Baton Rogue. In 2020, Goins posted a career-best 10 assists in an outing against Mississippi State on Oct. 20. As redshirt-freshman in 2019, she posted seven assists and four digs against South Dakota State.

Prior to her time with LSU, Goins had a storied high school career while at Avon HS in Indianapolis, where she was a two-time Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year selection, three-time Indiana First Team All-State honoree, and named 2017 AVCA/Under Armour Second Team All-American. The 5-8 setter finished her senior season ranked 21st nationally and racked up a school-record 4,304 career assists. Goins also helped Avon HS to a back-to-back Indiana 4A semifinal tournament appearances and captured the state crown in 2017.

"Darian is the gold at the end of the rainbow for us," said Cole. "She brings a ton of experience playing volleyball at a high-level and has quick feet and great court awareness. She'll also give us the ability to run a fast complex offense. The polished way she reads an opposing defense is really going to help our hitters shine."

Bartley and Goins join incoming freshmen Katlyn Sipes and Erin Goya who were announced in January.
