DENVER — Seattle U baseball's Shane Jamison was named the Western Athletic Conference's Hitter of the Week on Monday, following his performance during May 17-23.
A sophomore infielder, Jamison led the Redhawks at the plate hitting .615 and eight RBI during their final home stand of the season against Utah Valley, and helping Seattle U secure the fifth seed in the WAC Baseball Tournament. The stand out week began with a 3-for-3 day in the series opener that included a double and RBI in a 7-2 win over the Wolverines on Thursday. He then drove in a total of four runs on a combined 3-for-7 outing, helping Seattle U sweep the doubleheader and win the series. Jamison closed the regular season on Saturday with a 2-for-3 day and three RBI off the bench.
The Lummni Island, Wash., native is the second Redhawk this season to garner weekly conference accolades, joining Peter Chronowski, while being the team's first Hitter of the Week since Julian Kodama was recognized last season.
Jamison and the Redhawks will open WAC Baseball Tournament action on Wednesday when they face No. 4-seed NM State. First pitch from Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz., is slated for 6 pm PT.
