SEATTLE – Seattle University softball battled to the end with No. 20 Michigan in the first round of an NCAA Tournament Regional on Friday evening, falling, 2-0, to the Wolverines at the University of Washington. Carley Nance pitched a complete game for the Redhawks, who will take on the loser of Friday night's Portland State/Washington game.

Michigan's Meagan Beaubien controlled the game, striking out 10 Redhawks on the day. Bailey Thompson was hit by a pitch, Carley Nance walked, and Mekenzie Madokoro reached via error.

Nance performed well, limiting the strong Wolverine attack for much of the contest. Michigan scratched out a run in the third inning, scoring on a wild pitch with two outs. Madison Cathcart snagged a one-hopper to claim the final out of the frame.

Alyson Matriotti made a stellar defensive play in the fourth, but Michigan added insurance with a home run in the sixth.

SU will play tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at UW.
