Lugito Leads Redhawks to 3rd Place Finish at GCU Invitational

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Seattle U women's golf opened its 2021 season with an extremely strong performance, finishing third out of 15 teams at the Grand Canyon University Invitational. Grand Canyon won the team title with a stroke total of 2-over, while Southern Utah's Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan captured first place with a shot total of 5-under. Seattle U posted a team score of 25-over 889, with its best team round of 293 coming in round two. The two-day event took place at GCU Championship Golf Course in Phoenix, Ariz. on the 6,171 yards course with a par of 72.

Leading the way for Seattle U was senior Keisha Lugito who demonstrated great consistency throughout the tournament, earning her a Top 10 finish at 2-over 218 (72-74-72). Senior Kimberlee Tottori (77-74-71) and sophomore Megan Kelly (78-75-74) improved each round, while junior Samantha Bruce (80-70-78) put together a strong performance in round two after a slow start. Rounding out the team was senior Krystal Hu, finishing with a three round total of 230 (74-78-78).

The Redhawks look forward to their next event in St. George, Utah at the Pizza Hut Invitational hosted by Southern Utah which is scheduled to take place from Mar. 11-12.
