SEATTLE - Seattle U track and field participated in its first meet in Seattle this season when it made the short drive across the city to take part in the Doris Heritage Invitational, hosted by Seattle Pacific. Seattle U put its best effort forward as it took home first place in four events and set six new marks on its top-10 all time outdoor list.

"It was a good way to end the winter quarter for our team," said Head Coach Kelly Sullivan. "I thought we did a really good job today and we look forward to heading to California for our next meet."

The Redhawks were lead by sophomores Ansel Pendley-Griffin and Isaiah Payne as they both took home at least one first place finish. Pendley-Griffin was the top performer in the 800m and 1500m with times of 1:57.13 and 3:59.20, while Payne had the best performance in the 100m dash with a time of 10.91. Following Pendley-Griffin in the 800m, was freshman Alex Franklin and Jack Crowell who finished in second and third, respectively, with times of 1:57.50 and 1:57.57.

In the 400m, freshman Maya McCabe now ranks sixth all time with a time of 58:25 which was good enough for second place on the day. The 4x100 relay team of junior Michaela Moore, senior Michelle Newblom, sophomore Regie Grady, and junior Tricht Jocelyn won first place in the event with a time of 48.52 which was also good enough to move them from fifth to fourth all time. Grady also put together a great performance in the 200m with a time of 26:05 which puts her in eight place all time.

Freshman Tyianna Barnett and Morgan Young both improved upon their performances from last week in the high jump. Young moved up three spots on the all time list as she now sits in fourth with a mark of 1.60m, while Barnett improved her personal best to 1.45m. The final new top ten mark set on the day was by freshman Xavier Kelley as he ranks seventh on the high jump list with a mark of 1.85m.

The Redhawks next event will be in Riverside, Calif., when they take part in the UC-Riverside Twilight on Apr. 2.
