Seattle U Falls at Oregon

Eugene, Ore. - Seattle U women's tennis finished their weekend trip to Eugene with a matchup against Oregon at the Student Tennis Center. The 5-1 Ducks came out strong in the doubles matches and did not let up in singles play, winning 6-1.

Eugene, Ore. - Seattle U women's tennis finished their weekend trip to Eugene with a matchup against Oregon at the Student Tennis Center. The 5-1 Ducks came out strong in the doubles matches and did not let up in singles play, winning 6-1. 

"This team is continuing to show a lot of progress," said Head Coach Kristina Hollander. "I am happy to see the positive changes our player have been making in their matches and we look forward to making more progress in the future."

The Ducks opened the match by claiming the doubles point. Senior Hannah Gianan teamed up with fellow senior Michelle Bader against Rifanty Kahfiani and Uxia Martinez Moral, falling 1-6, while junior Hannah Grossman and sophomore Jade Lancaster suffered the same result against Lillian Mould and Janice Tjen. 

Grossman (4-6, 5-7) was the closest Redhawk to victory against Madisen Olsen, while junior Alisa Sabotic (3-6, 3-6) put up two competitive sets against Mould. Lancaster (1-6, 3-6) faced off against Kahfiani, while Gianan (2-6, 2-6) battled Tjen, and junior Jillian Rasmussen (2-6, 1-6) matched up against Martinez Moral. Seattle U's lone team point came from junior Aranza Alvarez Sanabria as she was awarded the victory by default. 

The Redhawks next scheduled event will take them to Cheney, Wash., for a matchup with Eastern Washington on Mar. 5.
