SEATTLE — After being postponed earlier this week, Seattle U volleyball is now set to visit El Paso, Texas for its Western Athletic Conference matches with NM State on Wednesday, Mar. 3 and Thursday, Mar. 4. The Redhawks are coming off a series split with Dixie State last week, while the Aggies are on an eight-match win streak and atop the WAC table. The opener of the two-match series is slated for 2 pm PT with Thursday's contest set for 11 am PT.
Due to health and safety protocols, fans will not be allowed at the matches but will be able to watch all the action on the WAC Digital Network (WDN).
Program Quick Hits
• The 2020-21 academic year marks the first season for head coach Michelle Cole ... Cole was announced as the program's fourth Division I head coach on Feb. 6, 2020.
• The 2020-21 academic year marks the 22nd season of Seattle U volleyball since the program was reinstatement in 1999 ... this season is also the Redhawks' 13th as a NCAA Division I-member and ninth as part of the WAC.
• The Redhawks begin the year with 25,750 kills, 30,408 digs and 4,226 total blocks, since the start of 1999 season.
About the Redhawks
• Seattle U is hitting .133 on the road this year with 11.3 kills/set ... defensively, the team averages 13.0 digs and 1.9 blocks per set.
• Head coach recorded her first Seattle U victory on Feb. 22 with a 3-0 win over Dixie State.
• Ezgi Ozkan began the week listed third among WAC leaders is assists (205) and second-overall in assists/set (9.32).
• As of Feb. 23, Ozkan was ranked among the Top 100 in Division I in assists/set (97th).
• Ozkan has recorded 30 or more assists in 12 of 13 last matches, including the last five matches ... she has reached the 30-assist plateau 19 times in her Redhawk career.
• Tijana Milojevic began the listed second in digs/set (5.09) among WAC leaders, and was fourth in total digs (112).
• As of Feb. 23, Milojevic's 5.09 digs/set is 40th among Division I leaders .
• Milojevic has recorded double-figure digs in a career-best 29 consecutive matches, surpassing a previous mark of 23-straight, set during the 2017 season (9/2-11/16) ... the current streak began on Sept. 14, 2019 vs Oregon State and has seen her record 20 or more digs eight times.
• On Feb. 23, 2021, Milojevic became only the second player in program-history to reach 1,600 career digs joining all-time program Maggie Safranski (2,008).
• Johnasia Carr is averaging a team-best 1.07 blocks/set and is seventh among WAC leaders in stats against league members.
• Sophia Bertotti Metoyer is hitting a team-best .268 (41-11-112).
Opponent Preview: NM State
• NM State is 8-0 on the year and has won its last 30 matches against WAC opposition.
• The Aggies are calling El Paso, Texas home due to COVID restrictions in their home state.
• NM State is led by Mike Jordan, who's in his 23rd season with the program.
Series History
• The Redhawks have met NM State 16 times since 2012 and are 1-15 in that time.
• The lone Seattle U victory was a 3-1 decision in the Emerald City on Oct. 4, 2014.
