"I am happy with the way our women's team competed," said Head Coach Kristina Hollander. We had some great performances during the doubles matches and some close singles matches. I am glad to see the progress that each of our players have made and it is a step in the right direction for us."

Brigham Young started the day by claiming the doubles point. Junior Jillian Rasmussen paired up with fellow junior Martina Asciuto to put together the best doubles performance for the Redhawks, falling 4-6 against Kara Lin and Elizabeth Tullis. Sophomore Jade Lancaster teamed up with junior Hannah Grossman against Leah Heimuli and Emilee Astle, falling 2-6, while seniors Michelle Bader and Hannah Gianan suffered the same result against Anastasia Abramyan and Helen Jiao.

In singles play, Lancaster (1-6, 6-4, 0-1 (10-8)) was the closest to victory, pushing Jiao to a third set. Junior Alisa Sabotic (5-7, 3-6) and Gianan (3-6, 2-6) both put up two very competitive sets against Astle and Lin respectively. Junior Aranza Alvarez Sanabria (1-6, 1-6) faced off against Tullis, while Rasmussen (0-6, 1-6) matched up against Xenia de Luna, and Grossman (3-6, 1-6) started off strong but fell short to opponent Qianxin Kong.

The Redhawks will stay another day in Eugene to take on Oregon Sunday morning at the Student Tennis Center.
