The loss drops the Redhawks to 0-3 on the season.

After Gianan, junior Aranza Alvarez Sanabria (1-6, 6-4, 4-10) was the next Redhawk closest to victory, pushing Gerda Upeniece to a third set. Juniors Alisa Sabotic (3-6, 4-6) and Martina Asciuto (3-6, 2-6) both put up two very competitive sets against Makoto Ohara and Ashley Ramirez respectively. Junior Hannah Grossman (1-6, 1-6) battled against Emily Rees while sophomore Jade Lancaster (4-6, 0-6) started off strong but fell short to opponent Capu Sanoner.

Portland State opened the match by claiming the doubles point. Lancaster paired up with junior Jillian Rasmussen against Meszaros and Rees, falling 2-6, while Grossman and Asciuto suffered the same result against Ramirez and Upeniece. Seniors Gianan and Peggy Rooke (1-6) faced off against Ohara and Sanoner.

"We had some really close matches tonight," said Head Coach Kristina Hollander. "Unfortunately we came up short but all we can do is continue to put in the hard work and focus on trying to get better everyday."

The Redhawks will travel to Eugene next weekend to take on Brigham Young at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and Oregon at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
